About SMART
SMART is a summer school organized by the Manufacturing Technology Group of the University of Palermo and the Institute of Manufacturing Technology (LFT) of the Friedrich-Alexander- Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU).
The school addresses young researchers and PhD students whose research activities are focussed on sheet metal. Fundamentals and advanced topics covering a wide field of sheet metal processing will be presented and discussed.

LOGISTICS
The Venue
Palermo, a city of Phoenician origins, then ruled by the Romans, the Arabs, the Normans and the Swabians, it displays evidence of its glorious past everywhere you look.
The workshop will be held at Hotel B&B Ai Quattro Canti, located in the heart of the city center, at walking distance of the most interesting areas of the city.
The Social Events
We arranged multiple activities for the participants, including a social dinner in the gardens of the biggest opera house in Italy, the Massimo Theatre
How to reach the venue from the Palermo Airport
Bus: At 30-minute intervals, the airport buses depart daily between 04:00 – 22:30.
Train: The regional train from the Airport to the Central Station leaves at 30-minute intervals between 05:15 – 00:25 daily.
Car: Take the A29 motorway in the direction of Palermo.
Taxi: Taxis are available at the International Arrivals.
If you wish to reach the Conference Venue directly from the Airport, the fastest way is the bus; the stop “La Rinascente” is 300 meters away from the venue.
